Chroma MD Paddy O’Clery was invited to the House of Commons to discuss the importance of the Creative Industries to the UK economy.
Chaired by Baroness Bonham Carter, the lively breakfast debate hosted by the Industry and Parliament Trust, saw leading industry experts discuss the merits of tax incentives for film and TV production, as well as stimulus packages for the animation and gaming world.
Introductory talks form Sara Greater, CEO, Talkback Thames and Caroline Torrance, Director of Drama, Content and Production, BBC Worldwide, set the tone for a hugely interesting and fruitful session.
Chroma pushed for the technology industries to be considered part of the creative industries and made further points that legislation and government seemed to lag behind the events in the fast-moving digital industries.
The findings of the session will be published at a later date.

We’ve just launched the official 2012 Sport Relief apps for Android and iPhone.
The Sport Relief in Your Pocket app is free and in the App Store and Android Market now.
It features regular updates from all the Sport Relief challenges, as well as images and video content from the celebs involved; including Miranda Hart, Gary Lineker, Vernon Kay, Colin Jackson, Dermot O’Leary and Fearne Cotton.
And packed inside is the wicked ‘Fling a-Face’ game, which enables players to catapult one of the celebrities’ faces – or your own face – across the country to collect points. Warning though, it’s very addictive.
The app also has an ‘Inspire Me’ feature, which includes examples and stories of individuals’ Sport Relief fundraising activities.
Past Sport Relief challenges include David Walliams swimming the Thames and Eddie Izzard completing a mind-boggling 43 marathons in 51 days. There’s also the all-important Donate function, so you can send your donation directly to Sport Relief from your mobile
The Sport Relief event runs between 23 and 25 March 2012 and it will be televised on the BBC.

How do you get your brand to trend worldwide on Twitter?
Easy… build a viral website with lots of dark and suggestive pictures. Then at 10pm on January 19th post an official trailer for one of the world’s biggest computer games.
Nohopeleft.com was the viral site in the eye of the storm supporting the release details of the eagerly awaited Resident Evil 6.
Built with our buddies over at Brothers and Sisters, it’s a conspiracy theorist’s digital dream destination.
Everything about this is huge. The gaming world went bananas and traffic on the site measured in millions. A viral video notched up 300,000 views, the trailer itself has more than three million views. Twitter and Facebook lit up across the globe.
So if it’s a dark and zombie-filled planet you want, then Capcom’s release is your man.

It’s been heads down this week at Chroma Towers – the busiest start to a year EVER.
Good stuff, and all.
But there’s still just enough time to find a classic concept brought to life on the web. For the under 30s among you, most of Sleeveface is based on the vinyl album cover that was once played on something they call a record player.
It’s been about for ages but the idea is simple; one or more persons obscuring or augmenting any part of their body or bodies with record sleeve(s) causing an illusion. Get in: http://www.sleeveface.com/
And if you still haven’t had enough of work and that-there learning, how about a few charts and graphs to further nerd you-up.
