A couple of months ago the iPhone 2.0 software and iTunes App Store were released. Great web apps designed for the iPhone had been around for some time but this upgrade enabled the installation of native programs, and the App Store easy navigation of both paid and free apps.
Development is flourishing as developers are able to sell their applications in the user friendly App Store, and can set their own price. They receive a monthly payment of 70% of sales, with 30% going to Apple.

My Touch is almost full of Icons and it’s hard to organize. Is there an app that would organize them for me. It would be nice if Apple let us make folders for different categories like Games, work, travel etc, and when the app updates, put it back where you got it please!
Hi Dave,
Don’t know of any organiser I’m afraid - folders would be a good idea. If you’re fairly techie you could remove standard apps you don’t need - i’ve removed weather, stocks, youtube, notes and the itunes store by doing this:
- Jailbreak your touch using PwnageTool: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ (do this at your own risk, it invalidates your warranty)
- Open the Cydia application that’s now installed on your touch
- Install SSH through Cydia (there’s a tutorial on the first page of Cydia)
- SSH into your touch and delete the unwanted apps in the /Applications/ folder
Quite a lot of hassle if all you want to do is free up some icon/disk space!
